I have yet to experience a dangerous wake, most power boaters I have encountered on the water and talked with on the dock do try to make less wake as they pass a sailboat.

This past weekend sailing up the Delaware Bay and River after a very enjoyable month of lower bay sailing only one power boat out of many and large commercial vessels produced a wake that was close to being just a bit more than unpleasant. Wakes are just practice for the short period disturbed waters over the lower bay flats.

This was off the Salem Nuclear plant, a large power boat producing a wake that left a swell for some time with crest to crest of about 3 boat lengths (my boat is 20ft) and trough to crest well over 8ft.

I saw it coming at rode it out,
