Hey Grumpy Old Man-
Don't matter to me what you believe, or not...
I won the America's Sail Tall Ship Festival Race (first place in class, and overall, Beaufort, NC, 2006) by cutting off 4 miles on the windward leg. NO other boat could. In 35 knots with a 160% Genny, she will point to 12 degrees apparent with no slippage at all. That is how I won the race. Single handed, I might add. Against professional crews...
Sounds like you need a better boat to me. The rest of the tall ship fleet certainly does.
