Did you survey the Mercator 30 before purchase? Just a thought. The 20 mile ride in decent Wx will not be too bad. The reason I am asking about the survey is because we had a Mercator 30 (ORION) that self destructed. This was accomplished by the keel being weighted by means of cement and tool ends. Saltwater eventually permeated and the metal tool ends exfoliated and breaking up the keel structure. We stripped the hull and stepped the mast in the backyard. We built a table around the foot of the mast and would hoist the sail and keep it appropriately trimmed during long durations of drinking Mai Tais and playing croquet. We sailed the backyard many places..........
