Just curious, but have you guys ever sailed a boat with an open transom? One could easily rig netting across the opening and still get the benefit of not having the cockpit fill with water. Honestly, the boat, including the stern, look much like a nice variation of a Dashew design with a cockpit (not the hull form) heavily influenced by the latest short handed racing designs.

I wouldn't worry much about falling off either boat, but if it were cold at all, I'd rather drive Pelagic.
