The RYA certifications are usually considered the gold standard. I wish I had them.

Having said that, as an instructor you will be teaching the standards of the the certifying agency. I certify for two different ones and the standards are a little different.

Check with ASA and US Sailing for their prerequisites before starting down any path.

ISPA Yachtmaster Offshore Instructor Evaluator
Sail Canada Advanced Cruising Instructor
IYT Yachtmaster Coastal Instructor
ASA 201, 203, 204, 205, 206, 214
