windyway - Could you provide us with drawings or a pic of your alterations? I will need to do that on mine too. My cable is currently broken with the centerboard down.
The only pic I have is the one posted earlier in this thread. I used a wire coat hanger to get the correct angle of the pocket in the keel slot upper surface. then made a bracket that houses a pulley, then bolted & sealed it in. It's been 2 seasons now & the cable is still perfect. It's not tension that's the problem, it's the angle of the inner cable once it leaves the outer sheath and attached to the keel.
