That's the stuff - Scotch brand IS 3M by the way. The varnish covering would certainly seal it off from the WD40.

If it happens in the future, try peeling a bit up and getting the WD under the tape, on the glue and slowly peel it away, squirting or dribbling it on as you go. I have sometimes had to work my way along like that.

I, myself, personally intend to continue being outspoken and opinionated, intolerant of all fanatics, fools and ignoramuses, deeply suspicious of all those who have "found the answer" and on my bad days, downright rude.
