Fortunately, our current boat was without a name, so no problem there. Our previous boat had one and we had figured out a new name, but sold it before following through on the change.

I think a nice ceremony with or with out alcohol (we don't drink) is a fun idea and helps you show off your boat to friends and family. And you can easily adapt the ceremony Jon V. has and make it a nice prayer meeting -- kind of like asking a priest or other clergy member to bless the boat and keep those on it safe from harm. Not blasphemous, a nice gesture, and a nice ceremony for all -- everybody wins.
