Our amateur
radio team returned from Kanton Island in May 2011 after an amateur
radio expedition and, working with the USGS, we also repaired the Tsunami Warning Station in the northern part of the island near the old
radar tracking station. The USGS informed us in late June 2011 that the signals from the station are gone due to a failed Satellite Modem unit. A few of us would like to go back to Kanton to do some more amateur
radio activitiy and also fix the Tsunami station.
Does anyone have any idea of any boats heading anywhere near Kanton in the Phoenix Group in 2012????? We would need about 5-7 days but can remain on Kanton up to 21 days.
