Beneteau 42 headliner

As most of us with the early beneteaus have found, the headliner in the forward cabin as well as the quarter have dropped due to the foam insulating between the vinyl and glass has given up its life..
In the head, I pulled all the vinyl and sealed the glass with white epoxy primer and then epoxied in burlap with multi coats of clear epoxy over the top.. worked out really well.
But the new Idea
and looking for some feed-back here,
I saw a guy re-doing a celing in the clubhouse here at the marina where he shot a textured compound and then smothed out the top and then painted over the top.. somewhat like a wall is done in a office..
My thought is to prime with epoxy, shoot the celing for texture in the birth and then use an epoxy over the top using a killer in the top coat to give a satin finish to the surface..
Any thoughts...
