For all the Chesapeake sailors when you have light or no breeze in the summer we have fairly reliable wind down river from Marcus Hook, and steady wind in the bay below the Cohansey.
Fluky and gusty up river from Commodore Barry but very predictable shore line breezes when the temperature starts nudging 100 deg F
I've found the evening breezes to be very steady all summer long, even above the bridge. They seem to be particularly good on days that go well into the 90's. Heading out around 5 or 6 pm almost always makes for a pleasant evening sail down to the bridge and back. Weeknight sails after work would be impossible if I had to drive 1-2 hours each way.
