Yeah, I sailed for a year without one and without telltales on my sails. I was hoping I would develop an innate "feel" for the perfect wind angle. Crap. Absolute crap. Now I happily stare at the windex and woolies all the time while sailing. Makes for a stiff neck sometimes but I sure go up wind better....
