Tartan 33 Folks-FYI-Spreader brackets

For current owners of Tartan 33s or those considering purchase of one of these solid classics...be sure to have a rigger check your/the brackets holding the spreaders to mast. We had them replaced on Radiant (hull #44) last year and it was quite a job for the rigger. Could not be done aloft. We had to pull the mast. Getting the old ones off was main problem and it took a seasoned rigger a few hours. Don't count on finding "off-shelf" replacements. Most likely you'll have to have them fabricated, which is not hideously expensive but adds time to the job. Given the age of the T-33s, its wise to have a rig inspection. Hope this helps.
