Are you thinking of attaching the forestay to the top of the bale? I don't think that's a great idea.. it would tend to slide back and forth with loading. If you're sure the bale is strong enough you might want to weld an eye in the middle for the stay tang. If the bale elongates, though, your rig tension will not be stable.
