Hi all i have just brought a Hutton 24 ts, she is about 25 years old and has sawing keel.
The boat has been modified and changed over the years.
What i would like is some specs on the boat, i am trying and fine out if the changes are working. From what i can tell the keel has been replaced with a lighter one,and water ballast has been added. The boat sails well but is heavy one one side. I can drain the water on one side to bring her back but not sure how much weight to put into the keel if any.
So what i would like is some one who has or has had one to get some ideas
from any help would be good thanks
My first boat was a Hutton 24. They are based on a dufour 24 hull, and are good boats, but to your specific questions i'm not entirely sure in terms of specific ballast figures.
I have also just got one of these in fairly original condition. The water ballast is definitely a modification as the ballast was initially provided by the weight in the swinging keel and lead ingots placed in the hull.
Specifications for this boat can be found at hutton24.keptsafe.com
Hi Mark thanks for the info ,my boat is tara and you can see her on hutton haven . I would love to see some pics of your boats keel and or weights in the hull.
thanks Wally
Ps would love to chat more about your boat
here are the pics. It was quite difficult to get these shots but hopefully you can make out the lead ingots placed along the inside of the hull on either side of the swing keel housing.
Hi Mark thank you for the pics ,you look to have more room under the floor than mine . I have lifted the floor on the stb side but not on the port side
i did not see any weights tho . Am now woundering if mine are glased in
will lift the port side on the week end .
Can you see the keel pin on your boat ? i need to rebush mine so will try and remove the keel over winter will post some pics as i go
thanks
Wally
I'll have a look to see if I can see the pin this weekend. My boats only about ten minutes away so I may have some luck. I was going to PM you with my contact details as I'd love to chat about your boat but apparently I haven't submitted enough posts yet.
