If you sail at night it is good to be able to light up your sails so you are very visible to ship traffic. Not that you would sail around all the time like that but it is good to be able to light yourself up if you are not sure they see you.
I have some LED spreader
lights that arent cheap but dont draw much electricity either. Not worth it if you dont sail at night much
