Funny! No, the "R" version is a little to austere for my wife. But we are coming up via Amtrak! I will definitely check with djodenda and see what his experience was.

Dogship, thank you, that is good info on the tax stuff. It might be good news; from what I had read about private sales, like off Craigslist, if you were exporting the boat you didn't have to worry about Canadian taxes since the seller wouldn't collect them and you would not be re-registering the vessel up there. The obstacle with brokerage sales was that they had to collect the tax and then there was no way to get a refund the way you used to with the PST/GST.

Of course, that's all just Internet hearsay and could be a load of tripe but my general feeling is if the tax isn't paid as part of the transaction, I am already ahead of the game and can avoid a lot of red tape and bureaucracy.

I'll certainly keep Greg Andrew in mind if we see something we like up there.
