Rhodes-19, you can see the insignia. Decent boat, there's a racing fleet in Chicago, and these sails look pretty good. So 19 feet long, and a tough little boat, but not error-proof.

Were they flying the kite? don't see a spin pole attached to the mast, it may have washed out from under the cuddy.

Cold lake and windy enough to dump it? Lifejackets shoulda been on, warmer that way anyway.

Edit: oh, wait, I saw a spin halyard in one photo. Okay, kite was rigged--if up, coulda been a good ole burnout to windward?

Funny, I don't connect drinking on board with, "hey, let's set the kite!!", too much work when you're potted, but that's just me.

Good job TV folks and Chicago Police boat. "God watches over drunks and fools" ;-)
