A few years ago I bought an 8' porta-bote. There's plenty of room for it on my 30' Islander. I stow it folded along one side of the cabin house between the house and the shrouds. I can still walk (carefully) up that side deck to the foredeck too. I keep the seats and transom in the v-berth. Takes me less than 15 minutes to assemble on top of the cabin top, put the motor on, and put it in the water. No problems with leaks or deflation.
