After five months of anticipation and hard work, i finally got out on the water for my first sail--EVER. IT WAS GREAT. I have read three books on sailing, but never had any practical sailing experience. Winds were light, so good for my first time. Was really cool to experience all the things i have been reading about. Boat seemed (to me at least) to handle well. Covered all points of sail, jybed, tacked and even winged the jib sailing downwind to catch as much of the light wind as possible. Really liked the singing noise from the swing keel and cable. It is sort of like an audible speedometer. Will be going back out tomorrow for more practice. Even saw some dolphins.
Thanks to everyone who has helped with advice on my project, i am sure i will have some questions in the future for the experts here. BTW, celebrated my first trip out with a Sailor Jerry and coke when i got back. VERY satisfying!
