PHRF club racing a Catalina 27?
I''ve crewed for other skippers on PHRF campaigns off and on for a number of years, but have nevr entered my own boat. Current boat is a Catalina 27 tall rig w/atomic 4.
One side of me says: race the 27 for awhile, have some fun, gain some experience and see how it goes, while another side says: any money spent to make the Catalina race-worthy will be wasted as in the end, it will still be only a cruiser.
In my situation, question is: would you club race a Catalina 27 and what mods would be recommended to enhance performance?...or would you go out and get a more proven PHRF racer? Recommendations? Thanks in advance.
