Re: Strainer between pump and engine?

My Yanmar 2GM has rubber impellers in both the raw water pump and the pump that circulates the coolant through the engine. Having retrieved an errant impellor vane from the head I'd like to eliminate the potential for recurrence.

After I wrote my initial inquiry, I found that the Vetus strainer is only designed to operate to 55C; I'm unsure of the coolth temperature at that point in the system but it's probably less.

I also wrote the Jabsco help desk who responded, "We don't recommend installing filters in cooling discharge lines as they may cause a restriction in flow and create an additional point of potential failure in the system."
