I'll defer any advice on bedding compounds to the experts. I used 3m 101 on my hand rails. Whether or not it was the best choice, I honestly don't know.
I had a tube of it on hand it seems to work well on my chainplate covers, keeping leaks out.

A quick look at the characteristics of 4200, appear to make it suitable for the application, but I would check with the pros. There are a few here.
