Your keel description sounds like the keel on my boat. I have one of the original Morgan-built hulls. The boat is back in the water now after hauling and painting or I'd include a photo.
Folks at my yard had a similar comment about blocking the boat when I had it hauled for refit. They did use a different 'b' word though
