that are under the aft chain plates. while setting the tensions to the back stays after restepping the mast I noticed how the fiberglass spacers were squishing and causing the chain plate to bend into the aft rail as well as putting more strain on the bolts and chain plates. I took the old spacer to a friend and he made me new ones out of stainless steel, I also installed new bolts,nuts and a stainless backing plate. The sarboard side was easy to do but the port side required a smaller person to get into the lazaret
