We've been to the Yucatan, Mexico and Cozumel many times while on vacation - although never sailed there from the Keys. I have found the months between December and March to be very pleasant, although as S. Pavlidis reported, currents can be quite strong.

We stayed in beachside resorts mostly and went on several diving boat charters along the Palancar Barrier Reef (2nd largest in the world). The drift diving can be exhilarating, to say the least. Can you say "flying rocks"?
