Pearson 365 (might be at the high end of your range). Ask Smack about his experiences racing on one. Not a lot of sail area (SA/D ~14), but fast in good wind.
Tartan 34c (have seen for under $15 that looked well-cared-for...)
EDIT: I wasn't sure whether the 365's really came in the price range, and I didn't see any on Yachtworld. On a whim I searched with adhuntr.com and found a few nice examples. Neat tool for finding the kind of boat you would buy nationwide but might not be listed with a broker. Also potentially a good tool for comparing "high-end" broker prices on YW with "low-end" non-broker prices on local craigslist (and kijiji in CA) sales
