I have a few architect friends and have imposed on them in the past...
For smaller
charts, I would also look at either buying a laminator and laminating the sheets, or buying water proof paper. Either way you get waterproof
charts for a fraction of the price.
Though to be honest I have really gotten into navigating with an iPad. I know there has been a lot of discussion about it, and I don't want to repeat that debate. But NOAA republished their chart catalog weekly as they update them with the local notice to mariners.
Meaning that if you print
charts as you need them, and replace them regularly you can avoid dealing with the laborious process of weekly updating.
