I actually drove a Corsair 31 on a very windy day a couple of years ago. Definitely fast. We hit 17 knots if I remember right:

Big Freakin' Sails

But it was one of those boats that was both too big and too small. Too small to want to cruise around in. Too big to feel comfortable doing all the work on it myself.

The Spirit is just right. Completely simple, seriously fast, and stupid cheap.

If I ever do get a cat for cruising, it'll be big and pimpin'.
