I like adventure....but you may get more than you have bargained for. And that's what this is about, "the bargain". It won't be a bargain if you find at any point in the trip that the boat is not up to the trip. It won't be a bargain if you find that you're not up to the trip. It won't be a bargain if this trip spoils your love for sailing(it can, in a hurry). Holding a tiller for 15 to 20 days in the summer sun will be tough. Expect the engine to be running a lot. Aside from the safety concerns, morale and love of the sport will take a big hit.
Try finding a woman who is both a bargain, and and an adventure.....they just don't mix. The same goes sailing.
I have to agree with earlier comments. It will be "cheaper" in so many ways to ship the boat, or buy on the west coast.
