I think what was said was go out ON a 50 mile daysail and see IF you have 50 more in you

Because its 24 hours on boat that can do 7 knots were as you will be closer to 4 knots

I talked to some guys that left out of Northport a while back to go west and down the east river on a 22' boat which went fine BUT

If we leave at 5 am on a low tide so the current is right for hell gate we get to Far Rockaway in plenty of time for a 3 PM ALIR start about 9 hours

It took the 22' guys 48 hours because they could NOT cover enough ground to make the currents and they had to wait out a bunch of current cycles

If we get to Montalk and its light wind and we miss the current we have had to Anchor and wait it OUT becasue you start going backwards
