Re: Can I Take It Into The Ocean?

Jimmy,

Our Lancer 25 w/ an 8HP outboard has done well in just about any but the worst conditions. As newer sailors (4th season) we sail as often as possible and just completed a 140 mile cruise up the coast. By some's standards, that's hardly leaving the back yard, but on a 25 footer, up to 10 miles out, that's adventure enough. And to counter another post's comment, though the sail is your main engine, the iron genny will serve you well. I can't even begin to tell you how many boats, bigger than mine, that I've seen steaming by on bare poles. Or the tell tale 6 knots with not but but a flogging main. Keep your ear to the radio and an eye on the weather. Never sail in wind that you can't handle, but don't worry about being challenged a little. You won't grow unless you stretch. Other than that . . .Go gett'm Tiger!
