Re: shroud tension

Theoretically, standing rigging is supposed to be tensioned to a specific percentage of its breaking strength - obviously this makes it different for every size & type of rigging - wire, rod, galvanized, stainless etc.

IIRC, S/S 1 X 19 is supposed to be 15% of its breaking strength.

Personally, I spent a few bucks for a Loos gauge - that makes it easy to ensure the same base tension on all the stays & shrouds.
I, myself, personally intend to continue being outspoken and opinionated, intolerant of all fanatics, fools and ignoramuses, deeply suspicious of all those who have "found the answer" and on my bad days, downright rude.
