re: New Morgan owner

Congrats on your "new" morgan....they are nice boats and I recently acquired a M24 a couple months ago.

There is quite abit of useful information on a website by another owner of a M24 if you enter "morgan 24" in Google it will take you to the Morgan site and the first section is "Morgan information" of the like. in there are specs, centerboard diagrams, rudder and tiller specs and a good article on the general characteristics of the early Morgan boats in heavier conditions (wind and or water) I beleive the title of the file is "Heavy Weather Sailing in your Morgan" or some such,

Do not be put off by any specifics re M24 or M 30 etc...there are alot of specs in the files which are general to several different models and this is explained where appropriate in the material.
Incidentally your hull speed is likely 7-8 kts as the 24 can easily achieve 6.*

Incidentally do not know if yours has any of those aluminum cleats but if so they respond very nicely to a gentle buffing. I am just beginning to restore my topsides and it is proving abit easier than I expected.
Have fun!
