Thanks for the replys everyone. while planning for our trip down the east coast in 2008 i checked our signal strenght with a S.W meter and we were only transmitting 1/3 of what we should have been. the problem was the coax cable was not the larger coax that S.H specified in the installation manual for the S.H Intrepid. i replaced the coax and anteana at that time and everything is good at that end.

I found the GX2150 on sale at Welcome to Milltech Marine - your AIS experts for $359.00. called the West Marine in our home port of Sandusky,Ohio and they matched the price, also ordered the unit for me to pick up Friday...no shipping. can't wait to get it installed and play around with it. better buy lots of wine this weekend to keep the Admiral entertained!!
