hellosailor, I've started to check out the connector houses you've mentioned, but deciphering the catalogs is not easy if you aren't familiar with the jargon. What I have in mind would have a gasketed cap for the bulkhead connector (when the mic is disconnected) and a cable-mount mating connector that can be waterproofed at the cable entry. Ideally, I would solder the wires directly to pins, as the splicing option is much less desirable in my application.

Thanks for your suggestion, but it looks like I'll have to do more digging to zero in on a connector series and then try to get a photo/drawing with dimensions.
