Re: Alcohol stoves in use?
I just recently purchased a really good bread book that uses the combo cooker for baking bread in a standard home oven to create professional quality artisnal (hate that word) bread. You put the risen loaf onto the preheated shallow skillet and cover with the preheated dutch oven and put the whole thing in the oven at 500 degrees for 10 minutes, then take the dutch oven off, lower the oven temp to 425 degrees and finish baking for 20 minutes. Do you have an oven on your boat? Might be a way to get better bread than from a ressure cooker.
Sounds cool. No oven on my boat (it's only 27'), but I have made cornbread using the Dutch oven on the Origo stove top a couple of times. It works pretty well. I flip it over when its almost done to brown both sides. Spanish tortillas come out really good using the same method.
I've also made raised-bread rolls in a Dutch oven on the stove top at home, so I assume it would also work on the boat.
Never forget them. Do something to prevent it from happening again.
