Attaching G10 to fiberglass

I'm wanting to beef up a portion of my cockpit seat with G10 to stiffen it before fitting a tiller pilot (without through-bolting it and having screw heads in the back of the seat). I've examined all methods of attaching the tiller pilot, and using the Raymarine cantilever looks about the best. The problem is that the seat backs where this needs to be mounted are a bit too flexible, the further away from the edges you go- it's just two-ply fiberglass. The horizontal surface of the seat and the side deck is cored, so I think glueing something strong like G10 would work, but it has to span the distance of the seat back (around 10 inches). What I'm wondering is if simply sanding both surfaces then mixing enough West System epoxy (maybe mixed with a little adhesive filler like 403) to glue them together would be enough so that it never comes apart.. Is there a better method without using screws?
