Re: Info. for Guests Aboard

Re: Guests bringing their own PFDs.

You are correct in saying: "Your guests don't need to BRING PFD's."

- We do have a sufficient number of approved PFDs for the number of crew.
- Each person is assigned their own "personal" PDF and it is adjusted to their fit.
- The suggestion was for those who prefer their own favourite brand of PFD.
- Since we sail in cold waters ( -3.5 deg C or 26 deg F in one instance), floater and survival suites are essential. Again they may have a favourite or prefer not to share the sweat of a pre-worn suite.

The rule is wear PFD's when out of the enclosed cockpit (with it's three foot sides and a permanent dodger/Bimini).

In anything but calm conditions use a harness as well (most PFD's have built in harness) and jackline.

In rough or windy conditions PFDs are also required in the cockpit.

In really rough or really windy conditions a PFD and harness are also required in the cockpit.
