Re: roller plotter or parallel rulers?

well, still learning, but now having done some plotting at sea, parallel rulers are theoretically the most intuitive, and work great in a classroom but when the boat is on its ear are not so friendly.
portland plotter is the winner so far, but i have to do some real self study at home to find out if there is anything they dont do. i havent tried the two triangles or the roller plotter yet. Oh, and for the boats i have been using, sailboats 40' and under, the smaller tools fit the nav table better.

i guess it's time to take a coastal nav course.

my bet is that the portland plotter is going to hold it own pretty well.
