Yanmar YQM15 - hard starting
Considering purchasing a 1981 sailboat with Yanmar YQM15 engine. There is no hour meter. This model engine does not have glow plugs.
Engine takes about 5 - 10 seconds of cranking before it starts, but seems to run fine after it starts (although I don't have much experience). This is in the Puget Sound, so below decks temperature is fairly cool - upper 40's/lower 50's. Engine manual says that some cranking is normal for cold weather starting.
Should I be concerned that the engine doesn't start instantly? What's considered "cold weather", with regards to engine starting?
