Yanmar not starting
Hi all. Just want check my assumptions. The engine (2YM15) initially started, and I didn't hear the cheerful gurgle from the stern and a quick check confirmed there was no water coming out. Turned the engine off immediately, and no alarms sounded. Strainer was fine, impeller checked out, so it's not that. In the engine compartment, dirty water (black) had sprayed around - not oily to the touch. Also, on a second try the engine turned over, but would not start. Also, diesel(?) vapor appeared to be coming out of the air filter.
What I think happened is the mixing elbow clogged completely and probably blew out. There is still sufficient back pressure to keep the engine from starting. I'll be checking on this tomorrow but is this a reasonable hypothesis, and most importantly, is there any possible major damage to look for? Thanks.
