Re: Sailing on Hudson river

Wow, swimming? Lest anyone still doubt global warming...

WFC has full season boat rentals but they don't have facilities to keep your own boat. Norwalk has a marina I'll be exploring with jet ski docks that could work...and Croton allows non-residents to rent sunfish racks in the summer (although I need to investigate the feasability of lugging it on/off the rack, and whether dollies/trailers can be stored). My boat-share would be with a friend with a car (especially useful when checking out used 'fish on Craigslist ads).

Gateway Marina in Brooklyn probably has the easiest set-up of all...a small (sadly, trash-strewn) beach in Dead Horse Bay with access straight out to Jamaica Bay. Being safety conscious, I want to explore whether it's a good spot and am trying to research the conditions there. I've seen quite a few articles about kayakers being rescued from the bay.
