What type of extinguisher did you use? By "dry" I would guess a dry powder extinguisher. Unfortunately, this can damage electrical components, and perhaps the diesel as well. This fine powder might get past the air filter and get into the combustion chamber (as an abrasive) which I can imagine isn't a good thing. Electrical components (fans, alternator) are also susceptible to damage from powder. Apart from that the powder is relatively inert so that no damage to the mechanical components you mentioned is likely, particularly if you've already cleaned off the remains.
