Furler Install

I stopped by to check on a friend installing an Aldo furler on his Pearson 26. By the time I got there he had most of the foil snapped on and was about to cut the last piece.
I took one look at his setup and asked how he figured he was going to get the drum low enough.

It looks to me like the forestay needs to be replaced to get rid of that super long tensioner. Is their any other way?
