I mentioned in the other thread I was an electrician and avid woodworker. Jon warned me, jokingly, that I'd better be careful about making that common knowledge or I'll get a lot of SailNetters wanting to invite me on their boat.
To me it had an added bit of humor. My dad called me one day (c 1975). I was still in my electrical apprenticeship at the time. He told me he was buying a cabin cruiser. I said, "You're going to buy a stink pot?" Months later he called me to tell me he bought a sailboat. "A sailboat?" I asked excitedly. He replied. "That's what you wanted, isn't it?" It wasn't long before I realized he
really meant, "That's what you wanted
to fix up for me, isn't it?"
