My halyard block is welded to the top of the extrusion, and I take the tail away, and tie the halyard to the drum, after the sail has been hoisted. Then I tighten it with a downhaul on the drum. A friend, who worked in a riggers shop, said a lot of people were doing this, and getting away from the halyard swivel althogether.
