Re: Review of my season on Georgian Bay

The sail was a bit disappointing though. It wasn't a bad sail, but we've had some great sails this season, and this wasn't one of them. Heading in a North direction, wind from the West at about 15 knots. Should of been a nice sail on a beam reach. However the wind died to about 5 to 10 knots about half way across, and the waves seemed to give the boat an awkward motion. If I had to describe the sail that would be it, "awkward". Didn't really analyse why it should be so until I wrote this down, but here's what I think. When the wind died down it left us with 15 knot waves, but without the 15 knot winds to plant the boat firmly in the water. Thus the awkward motion of the boat, and the awkward sail. Well it's a theory anyway.
We hit O'Donnell point, sails down and motor into the small craft route.
