One thing I'll definitely disagree with is the need for speed.


There is just as much enjoyment to be had from poddling along at 2 knots as ten. Sure its a blast when the wind pipes up and the spray starts flying but it is not now, never has been and never will be the reason I love sailing. If any of you cannot see the joy to be had from "simply messing" then that is really sad.

Maybe you need to practice. Take the dog for a walk .... slowly. Go for a bicycle ride ... head up, looking about. How about a spot of rowing, but not to win at Henley or ride a horse but not to win the Derby. Slow down FFS .... smell the bloody roses.
