You have come this far and now give up? C’mon, count your lucky star it happened in harbor.
How far do you have to sail to see the family?
I assume the boat still floats, so lets put it in perspective:
Can you raise/lower what’s remaining of the board?
Is the board part of the ballast?
If the answers are yes and no, you can still sail with what you have, meanwhile have it made, start making, etc. Unless the board is part of the ballast, it is only useful when on a reach or going upwind, without it (or without the other half), you’ll be less efficient, need more attention to navigation due to leeway and perhaps take longer but its doable.
